Thirty years ago, a small construction business was born into the world of renovation and building. Their motivation was simple: to bring dreams to reality, to transform visions on paper into concrete realities that showcase the dreamer’s passion.
Thus was born Shang Haur Construction in 1978. We began our foray into the challenging and fulfilling world of renovations and building by initially concentrating on renovation works. Through this avenue, Shang Haur could prove its capability to bring intangible ideas into concrete reality. Shang Haur transformed vague ideas and concepts from its clients into actuality, solidifying the intangible into the tangible.
Over the years, client satisfaction with our service grew and word of mouth recommendation brought us a constant influx of new business. With the ever growing demand for our services, we developed capabilities to meet ever greater challenges. During the mid 1980s, as the property sector in Malaysia experienced a tremendous boom, Shang Haur saw an increased demand for its services. Having garnered several years of experience under its belt, Shang Haur was more than able to meet the booming market’s increasing demands for more sophisticated product and services.
Shang Haur expanded its range of services from merely renovation and construction services to include general contracting, designing and building according to clients’ specifications. A significantly growing portion of Shang Haur;s business now tended towards construction management and development on residential, commercial as well as industrial building projects both locally and overseas.
Our guiding motto of “Reliability and Quality” has served us well over the years. It has also gained us loyal clients who know they can rely on us to produce quality works on time.
In the 1990s, Shang Haur entered another stage of its growth when it evolved from Shang Haur Construction into a locally incorporated company, Shang Haur Construction Sdn Bhd. This change enabled us to take on even greater projects. We are pleased that todate, we have been able to satisfy the exacting standards of many large corporations’ when executing the project entrusted to us.
Besides the expansion of our range of service in construction, we at Shang Haur have also added another value-added service, namely products and materials sourcing. Having 30 years of experience (and growing) under our belt means that Shang Haur has a significantly large portfolio and network af clients and suppliers from whom to source for anything that our clients need.

In the past few years, besides the numerous resorts/hotels, Shang Haur has also been involved in the construction of a significant number of mosques in the Maldives. This may raise eyebrows – why would a Malaysian Chinese company be involved in building mosques when the founders are of a different religion?
The answer is simple: we at Shang Haur have the deepest reverence and respect for what is undisputedly one of the world’s greatest religions. Having been involved in the construction of several mosques and liaising with the organizations and people running them, we have come to appreciate the sensibilities of the religion, its message of love and goodwill as well as teachings which propound whole – hearted seeking after God. This understanding allows us to bring out the beauty of this world religion through the incorporation of Islamic artwork and woodcraft in the decoration of the mosques. We have a range of ready – made exquisite Islamic woodcraft and art to beautify these holy places of worship.
On the other hand, coming from a non-Islamic background also allows us to bring a fresh perspective and be more innovative in the designing of the mosques’ decorations, making the mosques truly structures which will catch the eye and appeal to the hearts of all, Muslim or non-Muslim alike.

Our chairman, with over 30 years of experienced in the field of building and construction, provides the guidance and wisdom for the whole team. Our Managing Director, with academic qualification in Civil Engineering and Construction Management, not only has the theoretical knowledge but actual experience to see project on paper to their ultimate realization. We also have a qualified Architect and Accountant on board, as well as numerous skilled engineers, supervisors and workers who work as a cohesive team to ensure timely execution of projects in accordance to project specifications.
The external focus on providing superior service and materials to our clients in balanced with an internal focus on growing our teams. We believe that as our team members grow in their skills and capabilities, they will bring an enhanced knowledge and capability to meet our clients’ needs.
